Admission Procedure

Admissions are made directly by the academy for sponsored cadets. The academy also selects trainee cadets on behalf of foreign companies or their agents on the basis of their requirements. The cadet, after selection, will be given 22 weeks of training in the academy.

General Eligibility criteria's for the offered courses are written below:-

Educational qualifications:- 
Candidates who wish to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete their (10+2) PCM and High School from a recognized Institute are eligible to join as Deck & Engine Cadet. HSC passed candidates can join as Seaman Rating.

Age limit:- 
Age restriction is 17 and 1/2 yrs to 25 yrs for all candidates. The restriction is however relaxed for some foreign companies.

Medical standard:- 
One common eligibility criteria for merchant navy rating in all the fields is medical fitness. The candidate should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms and must come along with a physical fitness certificate. The eyesight must be Normal 6/6 others 6/9 with no color blindness.

Selection:- 
The candidate who is medically fit for sea service under international maritime organization norms will be selected after verifying the original documents.

Training:- 
The academy provides theoretical and practical knowledge of seamanship principles of navigation, rules of the road, Basic marine engineer, Chart work, and STCW 2010 regulations.

Kit:- 
Institute will provide the Following items on reporting:-
Uniforms, Sports wearings, Bed and Bedsheet, Pillow and Pillow Cover, Study Materials Fooding & Lodgings.

Candidates are required to bring the following items:-
Boots, Pt Shoes, Socks white and Black, Handkerchief, Towel, and shaving kits.

Note:- 
This will remain with the cadets and will be deemed as cadets own property
